The Friends of The Spinney
The Friends of The Spinney Friends

Welcome to the Friends of the Spinney webpage. We are a group of parents who support the school by organising social events and passing all funds raised to the school for the direct benefit of the children. In the past our funds have paid for a range of resources including books, cameras, musical instruments and garden equipment. This year we are focussing on the purchase of outdoor play equipment.

We meet a couple of times each term to plan activities such as discos, fairs and picnics, and also take part in running the events. It is a great way to get involved in school life and to meet other parents, and it's also a great deal of fun!

Easy Fundraising

Did you know that whenever you buy anything online from your weekly shop to your annual holiday you could be raising a free donation for The Friends of The Spinney? There are nearly 3,000 retailers on board ready to make a donation, including Amazon, John Lewis, Aviva, thetrainline and Sainsbury's. It doesn't cost you a penny extra! It's really simple, all you have to do is:

  1. Join. Head to https://www.easyfundraising.org.uk/causes/fospinneyprimary/ and sign up for free.
  2. Shop. Every time you shop online, go to easyfundraising first, pick the retailer you want and start shopping.
  3. Raise. After you've checked out, that retailer will make a donation to your good cause for no extra cost whatsoever! There are no catches or hidden charges and we would be really grateful for your donations.

Thank you for your support.

Uniform Sale

There will be a uniform sale again this year at the Summer Fair. The Friends are looking for any clean, washed items in good condition (no stains or holes please), logoed items such as book bags, fleeces and other standard uniform. Please only donate logoed polo shirts and t-shirts. If you have child-sized coat hangers they would also be gratefully received.

We would appreciate it if you could remove any name labels, and please note that we will not be selling tights, socks or underwear. Items can be handed into the school office. Thank you!

Summer Fair Summer Fair
This year's Summer Fair will take place on Sunday 2nd July, 2:30-5:00pm. There will be a variety of activities taking place during the afternoon, including an inflatable assault course and bouncy castle, and the opportunity to try out some circus skills with instructors from the Right Side Up Circus. In addition, there will be a BBQ and an ice-cream van along with many other exciting stalls and games. There will be a main raffle with some excellent prizes, plus four speciality hampers that will be raffled on the day.

If you are able to help us on the day, please contact the Friends by email or leave your details with the school office.

We look forward to seeing you all there!

Being a member of The Friends

As a Spinney parent we hope that you already see yourself as a supporter of the school and that you will want to get involved in Friends' activities! All talents are welcome, there are opportunities to help as little or as much as you can. For example, helping out at discos, running stalls at the summer fair (face painting, craft stalls, tug of war).

The Friends of the Spinney have a planning committee. We always welcome new members and value fresh ideas.

If you'd like to find out more, please get in touch with our chair via email. You may also leave your name at the school office at any time and they can pass your details on.
